Beyond The Mat

Beyond The Mat is our conscious collective effort to put our yoga practice into action, and reach out with a compassionate heart as a community.

AN URBAN RETREAT FUNDRAISER

Taking Care of Ourselves, Taking care of the World
Putting yoga philosophy to work in our Minds, Bodies and Communities
with Michael Stone

Many people have a hard time balancing the demands of work, family and community while maintaining a connection to yoga practice and an inner life. Michael will guide participants through meditation practices and discussion to explore practical ways to deepen yoga practice on and off the mat. We'll explore how to avoid burn-out and a loss of motivation in yoga practice and in life. Michael will also break down the concept of karma and we'll learn how to use the teachings of karma and ethics so that yoga comes alive in our every day lives.

New Leaf

New Leaf Yoga Foundation is an established organization, dedicated to making yoga accessible to youth, as well as providing on-going support for teachers and staff so that long-term, committed programs flourish.

New Leaf believes that yoga (asanas –physical poses, meditation and generally a way of life) can be a powerful contributor to social change, and that change on a large scale starts one person at a time. The organization hopes to inspire and support at-risk and incarcerated youth to tap into their inner strength and resources, so that they may cultivate seeds for peace in their lives.
